Olivia Owyeung is a writer-director from the San Francisco Bay Area. Olivia sees storytelling as a way to help us understand our own humanity. Olivia’s films are emotional explorations into identity, belonging, and human connections. She attended New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts where she earned her BFA in Film & Television Production with a minor in the Business of Entertainment, Media, and Technology. Olivia is a recent graduate of the prestigious and highly selective Direction Fiction course at the National Film and Television School in England. Her short film, MATERNAL, premiered at the Aesthetica Short Film Festival in 2024. Her previous work has screened at Academy Award Qualifying festivals, including the Cleveland International Film Festival and the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival.
